A client sent me a list in a .dat format what program uses this format ? I cant get it to open and they have no grasp on how to use a computer they cant even tell me what program the file opens in for them.
its a miracle they were able to attach the file to email. please help. thx

If memory serves me correctly, .dat files can come when a file goes through an exchange mail server incorrectly or something like that. I know there's a free utility out there to fix this problem but the name escapes me at the moment.
If you're on Windows, my usual trick is to open it with Notepad. That will give you any text you need to extract . . . hopefully.
