What's the best way to get a Word file into InDesign?
I know you can import with the 'Place' option, but are there any other ways?!

cut and paste into notepad or something that will strip the formatting, then paste into indesign and reformat. yes its a pain in the ass, but linking word files is a nightmare.

copy and paste,
Apply style sheet,
Clear all overrides.

how well will a stylesheet adhere to copied word text?

should work fine.
Actually not sure on cs1....think i remember having problems on 1. But you should be able to right click the highlighted text and select clear all overrides, after youve applied the style sheet.

Try saving the word doc as text only.
import, flow, style, repeat.
