I'm in the market for a 13 x 19" at home printer that's capable of making high-quality editions suitable for a gallery setting.
I've heard good things about Canon, but I'm not too famiilar with their printers - same goes for Epson.

how much are you going to spend

we had a few HP designjet 130nr's at school... i loved that thing. you could run pretty much anything thru it. they're about a grand though.

I am using this thread as the answer to my similar question.

i'm looking to spend between $700 to about $1200 or so. If there's something amazing that's slightly over my budget, I'm not opposed to considering it.

I've got a canon printer and it's the best thing i've used BUT it only prints standard size. Does Canon even offer a large format printer? I haven't seen one.

I bought an Epson 2200 about 4 years ago, and it's served me well ever since...no significant maintenance required. A friend of mine bought one from a licensed refurbished seller a couple years later for half the price.
The only downside is that the best of the best prints are on Epson paper, but I shove all types of paper in that thing and they still look pretty sweet.

the hp 130nr is a great printer.
the print heads are replacable which is a big plus. be aware that you will have to purchase the RIP software separately for your postscript files. so it puts the overall price at around 2 grand.but like mentioned above, you can run just about anything through the fucker. the photo glossy prints look kick ass.
