Can someone direct me to very recent stats on how many users now have the Flash 8 plugin?
We're having a debate and this chick here is trying to convince another designer to lose alot of his nice effects by saving down to Flash MX because most users don't have the 8 plugin yet.
True? Not true? info please.

you can force an auto-install and make the user update their player in only seconds... w/a redirect right back to the website and be done w/'the issue'...
... the flash 9 player is out already... time to move up to at least 8... tell the silly girl to shut her hole.
say it like that too... "hey... you... you're a silly girl and you should shut your hole".
:) Point at her while you're saying it too.

thanks guys. and that was hilarious Pony Boy. I forwarded your message on to the poor guy here who's dealing with her. LOL! Hope he doesn't say that. But would be funny.
I must say 70% is good enough for me to warrant the use of 8. IMHO.

I export down to flash 6 still, kinda sucks because you can't use a lot of the newer features but it is safe.

I suggest if you're going to place any flash on your page that you use deconcept's swfObject. He's got a whole slew of folks who not only use it on big projects etc... but also keep him aware of bugs etc... so it's being updated from time to time...

that's the latest release - I advise reading through the documentation...won't take you long at all... but he's got the auto-installer set-up nicely.
You may want to note that macrodobia uses his 'tool'... that's how 'good' it is. :)

thanks man. I think I've heard of that before but haven't really looked into it. definitely will read the literature on it and investigate.
