...Does anyone have a good idea about what is Spam etc etc? A bloke at the office next door just asked me, and I wasn't that sure...
He wants to send out 50-100 emails to prospective punters. He works for a marketing / branding consultancy.
Anyone know the law? We're in Sweden btw.

Yea, I don't know much on it but I do know that the recipients must of agreed to receive them i.e Sign up. You must also have a statement at the bottom to say "if you don't want to receive anymore emails click here..." ...or something (check an old email you got a copy&Paste.)

I imagine there is a full write up on this law somewhere

spam law is bullshit. how much unsolicited post to you get every day?
yet if you want to email someone they have to know in advance.
set up a server in russia and you can send what you like :/

Tell them to stop. Spam doesn't work any way, it just pisses people off. Why wouldn't it? Wiki says... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spa…

response rates from emails are constantly slipping and sales too. but if you want to do it and be safe I would recommend bursts of no more than 30 at a time from what I have read.
