Afer all the hoo haa with Kazaa and the other peer-to-peer software units - I'm surprised that the bastards haven't gone after Soulseek.
Not that I am complaining - I love soulseek. Got the new copeland and editos albums today

i think it exists without a HQ or several different oens around the world so it can't really be attacked

i think it is presumed that seeing as Kazzaa is one of the largest that all the smaller ones will follow-suit or follow by example and comply with whatever rules were passed for them to continue running.

there was about 6 months a couple years ago that it wouldn't work, but there is very little that i can't find on there. even has a lot of old french oi that is impossible to find on CD, let alone on vinyl.

theif...maybe. I use soulseek to download bands I think I might like after hearing their songs on SOMA FM or whatever. IF I do like said band - I almost always go and buy a cd...I like to have hard copies! For instance - I will not be buying the editors album - as there are only 3 songs on it I like, but I will be buying teh new Copeland abum, as it is awesome.

soulseek is known for its embrassing server problems. otherwise, it's a good place to rare and underground music.

I never have problems with soulseeks's server.
I don't feel bad about getting out of print tracks for free.
