Also, please anyone with a mac let me know how it looks...

I like it. I'm running Firefox 1.5.0 on a PC. Looks great. Nice to see large text.

sup blue,
I like it.
Here's a few things I would change:
Where your logo is at the top, I think I would kill some of the blackspace around the logo, trim the header down like 50-100 pixels in height, it will just tighten it up.
Make the height of your main nav smaller and decrease the font size.
I would play with font sizes on most things in the style sheet. It seems like everything is too large for my liking.
These are just personal preferences, but I think it will make it look tighter.
Later.

Thanks guys...I agree with you dobs..the header/nav will get a little tighter - and where it has "subhead" written I'm going to throwing in some small flash stuff for the various sections...
funny how different people like differnt text sizes..hahaha..I'm liking the larger text at the moment...I'm bouncing between using Georgia though and th usual suspects of sans...

I'd think about using a wider variety of font sizes. At present everything is "big".

I know what you mean, I always want to use Georgia but always end up using arial or verdana. Past few times I tried squeeking those fonts in with clients they requested arial and verdana. People are weird about Georgia.

Are the font sizes really that big? I'm looking at things on a 17inch monitor and it looks kinda fine..but them again, I've been staring at it for two days now...
- emptyempty0
Nice i like it! But the font size is a bit too big for me, apart from that, it's nice
- TheBlueOne0
ok..I get it..font size too big :)
I'll shrink those suckers down...thanks guys. I'm kinda psyched because I finally escaped from table layout hell, although the whole float thing was killing me...

lherb..thanks so much...

Like others have said, I feel it needs tightening up a little at the top and I'm not keen on your buttons - they feel a bit weak. Also, why doesn't your main image match the body text column width? I know it's a valid css site, but I feel it could do with a bit more graphic embellishment in places (footer, say).
Again, I prefer smaller text sizes - but others don't. Have you considered a text-size changer, ALA-style?
Otherwise - nice job! I like the layout and the darkened section below.
In your code, what does this do?
width: 860px;
\width: 880px;
w\idth: 860px;x

Thanks Nairn...yeah I'm going to be adding some more little graphical details...styling the buttons a bt more and adding some graphical gee gaws and whatnot..the main image will match the body text column on the actual site, I just threw that pic in to get an idea of how it would look..for me it was more using CSS as positioning and making sure it layed out right - this is my first use of CSS for layout and I was pulling my hair out for few hours...it's hard to let go of tables, but I knew i had to do it...
And the CSS needs to be cleaned up and moved to a seperate style sheet..there's lots of unnessecary stuff in there, like you pointed out..
- Nairn0
oh! I thought it was a clever hack!
:)
- TheBlueOne0
It is a hack for older IE browsers..like 4 and 5...part of the whole box model thing..it's part of a CSS template I put together a year or so back to work off of...
