I am sad to say that the Adobe products run too slow for comfort. I am quite dissapointed..I even asked the Apple Customer Service Rep about it right before I bought my Macbook. The only thing I can do is max out the RAM and hope for the best.
Slowly yours,
Erik

yep anything in rosetta will run a bit slow unless you max out your ram. Adobe won't be releasing their universal apps til next year.

bbot up with windows and you'll be fine ;)

yeah this is the main reason I have held off purchasing a macbook pro or even considering the new mactel towers that are coming out soon. The majority of my work is done in apps that have yet to be released in universal format, so my Quad G5 will continue to be my best friend for at least another year until Adobe releases CS3 and Flash to run on Intel chips. But for you that have windows adobe bundles, your in luck ;) I just can't stand the looking at that shotty interface lol. Hang in there, your purchase will pay off soon... just gotta wait for the software world to catch up unfortunately.

dude, didn't you hear all the people complaining about it? how many threads do we have on this now?
- Carty0
maxing ram on the new intels for cs2 applications has been recommended since before these even came out. macbookpro with 2 gigs of ram runs cs2 without problems. actually as fast as a g4 with 1.5 gigs of ram [pb] everything else rips. when cs3 comes, it'll be a dream.
2 gigs ram. do it do it.

I have a 2 ghz 2 gb ram macbook and it is a tad slow in osx. I'm quite new to osx, but I always though it was less responsive than windows. Well.. I'm not so happy to say it still is.
Also, firefox takes 4 sek to start for the first time after boot - wtf?

I have seen all the threads yes..but no reason to be a dick. I was just expressing my disgust.

im so glad all you fools jumped in on the intel bandwagon so soon. People are practically giving away G5's and powerbooks on ebay.
- studderine0
giving them away? really now..? i have found that most people on ebay are selling the powerbooks for much more than they are worth..

I'm buying my first new comp in 5 years next week. Upgrading from a G4 dual 533 to the iMac...and I'm maxxing the mo-fo out. As long as the Adobe apps run faster than they do on my current setup....which if they don't then I'm switching to a PC....even under Rosetta they f-ing better be faster than my current setup.
Either way, I'm psyched.

I got 1.83 MacBook with 2Gb RAM and everything runs smoothly apart from Flash 8 which has always been a bit shit on the Mac anyway. Still worth taking the risk now as anything that runs in Universal Binary or Intel is super mega quick compared to PB G4 or decent PC lappy.

if you find the right deal you can walk away w/one for $600-700. compared to a new iBook pro $1,999-$2,700 that's practically giving em away...now go shut your pie hole.
- studderine0
yea...ebay is sooo reliable....

sorry, i am not trying to be a dick about it.
i am just pointing out that first gen buyers have to understand the risks involved jumping on to apple products. given the history of the company, we all know there are many problems involved.
my feeling is that, they may do some major revisions to the case of their 2nd gen models. and some of you be even unhappier.
- designaked0
Yeah, I've seen those PB's too. They're dudes from eastern european countries who scam you. I think you should buy one and let us know how it turns out.
- mijlee0
Laptops are due for a major form factor revision but you can spend your whole life waiting for the next thing.
Having said that I am hainging out for a tower that doesn't need it's own room. Mac Pro Cube anyone?

i just bought a '17 G5 iMac off ebay for cheap cheap! Yes I was affraid I would only get a box with a sharpie drawn keyboard but it came and works fine. except for those damn loud ass fans spinning all the damn time. Doesn't ebay and paypall protect you from getting dicked?

I will never give PayPal my bank account info and my credit card info. Sorry, that is just too much info to give.

i have a macbook pro w/ 2 gb ram it was a little sluggish with 1gb but its ok, and once adobe releases the new edition it will be lightning fast because it will use the duel core processor to its full potential
