office related: how would you sync 3 macs? (dressbook, calendar, safari-bookmarks.)
are there any services or tools besides apple?

for 3 people or a single user?
I use .Mac to keep 4 Macs in 2 locations in sync...(worth it) and Exchange for email/collaboration for our workgroup of 6 people
if its multiple people, consider using something like Exchange?

I've signed up to the free trial of .Mac now that I have a laptop too. I find it slow to the point of tedious.
If I pay for the 'proper' service, will it get any quicker?
I've got a 5.5mb line at home, so its not the my internet that's slowing it down!

You could use something like Synchronize Pro or an FTP script to keep the data files synchronized.... but .Mac is so much better at doing this.. (plus you have access to all your bookmarks, contacts and mail from any web browser, anywhere...)

I switched from my .Mac account to a full Google system recently and am very happy with my choice. The only difference is that everything is primarily browser based, although you can load your calendar into Ical and recieve email vie POP if you want.
For bookmarks I now use Firefox over Safari and sync using Googles FF extension for this which works much more smoothly than iSync.
For Pictures I have Menalto Gallery on my own web server, so it all costs me nothing.

yeah google everything.
although Google Browser Sync only works with firefox.

Also worth concidering using something like del.icio.us or ma.gnolia.com for keeping your favourite sites. I'm really loving ma.gnolia.com at the moment

Does ANYONE on newstoday have a .mac account?
And if so, is it tediously slow when up/downloading files from/to iDisk?
Thanks in advance
