going driving tomorrow for a few days with the missus. glencoe, glenfinnan, plokton, morrar, ullapool, loch ness, inverness kind of way.
any place reccommendations?
or is it basically more visual - drive around, take in the beauty kind of thing?

Loch Morar was one of the few places I've beenthat felt kind of mystical

Indian if you are driving through glencoe, go to glencoe village aswell and just off the turnoff for the village is a pub/hotel called the clachaig get yourself in there for a pint of 'fraoch' (frook) heather ale yummy yummy, then drive through glencoe heading for fortwilliam then go towards kenmore and the road which goes past loch laggan is simply beautiful you then join the A9 taking you to aviemore which when you get there you must go for a walk around loch morlich :D

indian pole.
when you are on your travels, some wee hiking shops in the middle of nowhere will stock Avon "Skin So Soft" moisturising cream.this is the BEST midge repellent you can get. seriously!
you put it on a day or so before going up north and the midges wont even come near you.
a worthwhile tip for anyone else heading up north, hit up avon.co.uk or whatever it is.

that's so weird. our prodution director told me the exact same thing. apparently an ols SAS army trick.
- kon230
yeah, i know the trick from back in my SAS days.
hehe
nah, i know cos there are a lot of folk at my work that go hillwalking and thats what ive heard them swear by. its seemingly the most effective thing you can get.
