projected flash

I built a flash 8 presentation at a standard 720 x 540 dimension, exported it out as a qt movie (mpeg 4 format, maxed out quality settings). Then imported into iDVD and burned to DVD.
It is going to be played on an actual DVD unit hooked up to a projector, shot onto the wall.
When this DVD is viewed on my Mac, fullscreen, it obviously looks very bitmapped and pixelated. But then of course my monitor rez is 1920 x 1200. Taking that original size up almost times 3.
Here's the question: If this projector is your typical VGA 800 x 600 type will this 720 x 540 presentation look much better if only being sized up that much?
Or am I doing the math wrong or is that now how this stuff works?
Basically trying to prevent the client from showing up at the show going WTF!!! That looks like hell!!!
Thanks,
bB

if you want to see how it will look on a projector, watch it on a tv.
That being said, projected images are most of the time pretty big and watched from a considerable distance. So all the little defects that you may find on a computer or a TV you probably wont on a projected image.
if you ever been to a concert that had a huge LED screen in the back, you know that from far away you can see the picture, but when going really close, you only see huge colored pixels..
did that help?

the "watched from a distance" line made me feel better. :-)
I did watch it at home on my dvd player but that's hooked up to my 50" Sony LCD RPTV. So probably not the best example of what you were talking about? I'd have to view it on a standard old school tube tv right?
thanks

the only other option would be to rebuild it at twice it's size.
and that ain't gonna happen.

unless you will be using a projector like this:

you might want to try it on a regular tv.

Isn't standard DV resoltuion 720 x 480? Sounds like you're getting some stretching or squishing.

Yep. I'll take a copy home with me tonight. Thanks meeklo.
Remember. Stand way back. Looks great. :-)

(Aug 1 06, 09:07)he does have a point though..
You are using 540 wich is standard for square pixels (computer) but TV uses rectangular pixels..
You will have a strecth.Try to export a circle graphic, watch it on your pimp tv at work, if you get an egged shape, you might have to correct the ratio..
- Meeklo0
but then again.. dvd studio pro, calculates that ratio and squeezes back.. I think..
so you need to do the circle text (through dvd studio, or whatever you are using..) in order to be sure..

Part of me thinks I read somewhere about that point. Making it 720 x 540 because of the iDVD squeeze.
thanks

Maybe for widescreen playback.

Your DVD will be 720x480 so it will stretch your quicktime to fit that unless you matte it.
Projector should be quite forgiving if the audience is more 10-15 feet away.

I've only run them directly from a computer, as flash files--that worked well
