have you bought electronices from the us raf? would dell let you enter a uk address on the .com??

I'm sure they wouldn't. I bought quite a lot of electronics in the us, but with US shipping only, with someone from my family "smuggling" it to me.
I recently called US dell to ask if they took VISA from Europe, they said no probs. On the contrary, dell Ireland only takes local VISA.Keep in mind, that if you ship something obviously new to EU, you'll get stung with VAT.
Tip: not a lot of people know, you're entitled to carry one camera, one computer, one electric shaver (and so on) as extra hand luggage on a plane without paying any taxes and without the equipment weight beng checked. There's an international law about it, supposedly.

Just to be sure: I never bought from dell us, only checked what card they take.

cool, Ive wondered about this and saw a thread talking about buying from the US, never done it but with the string £ it makes sense. thanks

UndoUndo, ask Toulouz - earlier this week he mentioned he'd bought his Dell monitors from the US.
- UndoUndo0
thanks nairn will do, I saw his thread and wondered about that - like raf said I bet he has a US contact.

The difference in laptop price often buys you a flight to the US, it's crazy.
I usually buy stuff like lenses and small electronics from Amazon, they often give free shipping and no sales tax in the state you ship to.
Then I have my family airmail it to me.. Two rules:
1. insure the package, so they care about it at least a little (hopefully won't leave it on the doormat)
2. insure it low, so your $500 lens is up to $40. Somewhere close above this VAT jumps in.
