I am doing a biz proposal layout, and I need to create a table. However, the table tools, palette etc is shaded, so I cannot even create one. This is a store bought software too, no pirated stuff here. Anyone ever have this problem, or know how to solve? Help!!!

you have to be inside a text box, i think.

tried that. I do feel like its something you must do to activate it like that tho.

you need to put the cursor in a text box and go to table>insert table

go tables! — such a powerful tool in indesign when used well.

I think I know what the deal was.
I copied and pasted text from the clients file he sent. When I tried to set up in a table, no options were available. I guess you have to start a text box from scratch then...

nope.
you can work with tables from an imported text file.it gets tricky when you're importing a table coming in from an external file.
ie: you're importing an excel file.
if you're new to tables in ID, you might have a little trouble figuring it out at first, but e-mail/post here and i'll help you out.

Gucci, if you are around, I gotta question.
Can you import an excel sheet into an Indesign table, where each cell from the excel sheet imorts to its own cell in InDesign? I would assume there is an easier way to do that than copy/ paste manually into each cell. I have a beast of a project, about 75 rows, and about 30 some columns to fill.
