glasgow is much better than edinburgh.
but for tourists, edinburgh is better for them.
either way you need to escape to the hills.

do the 'auld reekie' tour of one of the vaults on the royal mile. if you enjoy shitting your pants that is.

please do more than shop in Glasgow, for christs sake, that's such a cliche. If you head out west rather than just stay in the smelly city centre it's a different city.
Go to the newly re-opened Kelvingrove Art Gallery, its spectacular and all around there you can see why Glasgow is the finest Victorian city in Britain.
Much more than shopping. pffft.

the guy who mentioned Mull (where I grew up) has a good point too, largest area of true wilderness in the UK - very beautiful, especially if you're into birds of prey or any of that shit.
Get up to Inverness and hire a car if you can drive, the whole of the highlands and both coasts are in easy reach from there, and Loch Ness is as beautiful a place as any I have ever been on a clear late summer/autumn day

Go to one of the Islands if you want proper rural, hills and such. Skye, Mull, Orkney, Lewis.
But it after a bit of action, vibrancy and nightlife then the Edin festival is your best choice.
And don't forget Stonybridge...

i think i'll be in scotland for 3-4days. i wanna check out a great scenary and beautiful landscape more so than cities.
is it too much to cover glasgow and edinburgh in 1day?
- Engage0
I've got tickets to see Russell Brand... going to be cool !
- ********0
cover them in what tkmeister?
- tkmeister0
i mean, is 1 day enough to check out 2 cities?
i'll be covering with my underwears.
- ********0
there are museums in edinburgh alone that you could spend an entire day in.
no offense but these are world cities we are talking about, not villages.

You're going to need my scotland t-shirt that I got at Target. EVERYONE thinks I'm scottish when i wear it. it will totally help you out while you're there.
:)
Have fun btw!

if it is any time soon then edinburgh is the place to visit. the festival lasts another 2 weeks :)

i got a buddy in london, so first, i'll fly there and then train up to edinburgh. probably i'd be up there on aug 31st. how's the weather this time of the year? i wanna drink like a scottish.
- ********0
the weather's ok just now actually.. if you make it on 1st September (Friday night) then there's a good chance of Edinburgh NTers coming out to show you how to drink like a scottish.
