why is a macbook with the 2.0Ghz Core Duo processor so much cheaper (more than 50%, in fact) than a dell with the same processor?

Don't know, but I have a Dell Inspiron Core Duo 2.Ghz, and it's fucking pimp.

remember mactels or mintels or whatever you call them; macs with intels wont run all your favorite design/web apps properly.

I use to have a mac but I fell for a Toshiba laptop... that makes me a REAL whore.

You can congiure a Dell to have the same specs but be a couple hundred cheaper.
Apple competitively priced, however.
Adobe apps run fine, just a little slow.
For me, I don't notice any difference since my previous computer was a Dual 867 G4.
In fact, it's faster for some thing.and it'll be blazing fast for us all when CS3 comes out at the end of the year.
Performance is similar - just choose the machine and OS you like the best.

OR you can get the "cheaper" mac and install windows and use both. with bootcamp it runs flawlessly and with parallel's it runs almost flawless minus graphics acceleration. fully maxed out on ram, both the iMac and MacBook Pro are sweet machines. i run CS2 and Flash without issue. I'm anti timeline so i don't know how tweening works in Flash, but for AS it's sweet. and Flash Player 9 runs smooth as butter.

I was about to buy a dell latitude d620 and they released the macbooks. I got the black one, still cheaper than similarly speced latitude. For me it only lacks is the higher res option (1440x900) and pc card slot.
