I did a project for a client and got paid for it. They want me to give them a cd with all the artwork on it in case they need to print more.
Do I charge them extra for this or just give them the files?

what does it say in your contract?
they def pay more for editable files. but often you are required to provide the final printable file.

It should've been stated in the contract.

it wasn't in the contract for some reason. is there a standard charge for giving them the editable files?

give them the files, not the fonts.
:)
hopefully you used some crazy ones. heh heh.

flatten it all in psd. thats what i do.
or flatten the majority of it.

Charge them $100 for the CD!
JK, you have to go by your contract...or next time you'll know you need to add that clause right?

Charge them or send them a hi-res outlined and flattened pdf

it sounds like to "print more" would just require a flat file.
if people trip when i tell them i won't give them layered psds, i explain that it contains proprietary knowledge and techniques developed through many years of study and refinement. they would certainly not give away their trade secrets, would they?

Hey do you mind if i can have a copy of what kind of contract you use? im really in a bind for somthing to work from.
thanx for any help.

yeah, just looking for decent contracts with some good t&c's to work from myself - about time I sorted it really!

Just give them a flattened tif. That can easily be printed from by any printer. You certainly don't have to give them editable files if your contract doesn't state that you do. Even if you have no contract, you don't have to give the files. By giving them the "finalized printing files" they will feel that they have some control and be happy with you.
