32x32 icons

have to design some icons for some software here set at 32x32 pixels..
Should I design them in pixel style or vector?
Can I use png files for icons?Your advice be much Appreicated.

aaargh, I have a very similar task at the moment, I had a very informative link for this kind of stuff, I'll have a hunt :)

Erm. Pixel style. More control.
Or vector then rasterise it.
You could just use Photoshop and do a 32 x 32 doc with a 1600 zoom, but for future proof go 256 x 256.

use vectos shapes in pshop for this task, trust me ive done a tone of 32x32 icons, unless ofcourse they have to look like pixel style?
