is it so bad?

absolute horror.

yup, it sucks badly, really really slow. incredible lag from your mouse action to completion of the function. Crazy state of affairs for the 21st century if you ask me.
more ram please vicar.

Not true!! They are great, work like a charm. Only downside, the non Universal apps are a little slow.
A buddy of mine got the 17" MacBook Pro and he couldn't be any happier. Plus he is/was a PC user, and he has been able to run both OS X and Win with no problem. After few months, he switched all the way to OS X! It can't be that bad.
He runs all the pro apps, including Maya, AE, CS2!
Get it, you won't regret it!

you can't even hook them up to the internet.

my gripe is only with CS2, otherwise they are pretty good...

my computer blew up.
the next one i got (macbook pro) and used cs2 it melted right on my desk.
then the next one took so long to edit the text it opened up a black hole in the monitor and i stuck my hand in and it traveled back in time and slapped emilia airhart in the face while she was flying thus causing her to crash.
the next macbook running cs2 ran so slow it actually went back in time and morphed itself into a commodore 64 and i played pong for 6 hours straight while watching the ball spin in cs2.
actually. use the find button as this has been discussed about 6 times this week already. epill and i will both tell you cs2 runs faster on this macbook pro than it did on my ibook and his desktop. it's not lightning fast but it's managable and after a few days you don't notice it anymore. cs2 running a bit slow is a small price to pay for the fastest laptop running slow on cs2 until early next year.

ok thx kona :) (and others)
my problem is just that I purchased cs2 recently and wanna stick to it for a while..
the only app I would upgrade continously is Flash. I can work pretty well on PS7 and stuff, I'm not so much into having the newest apps all the time.
so cs3 web bundle might not be an option for me.
I'm just thinking back and forth between the mb pro 2x2 and a 1.67ghz powerpc (as cs2 supposedly runs better on that machine)

if anyone cares, i decided to go powerpc and got a nice 12" pbook 1.5ghz off ebay - pick it up tomorrow : )
that should do the job for a while.. price was fair, 700Euros (870$)
- rafalski0
Powerpc was the only option, if you were sure not to upgrade to cs3 later.
Apparently, everyone who went intel is waiting for the upgrade.
