does anyone know why when you move a text box in InDesign the type jumps all over the place?
any suggestions?
thanks in advance for the help.

My guess would be you have an image box with a text runaround set and you are moving the text box into it's runaound space...just a guess not being able to see your project.

is it behind an object with text wrap set?

Yeah, not sure what you mean either? Can you elaborate?

zombie, you beat me...
string... check to see if you have it arranged behind an object with text wrap, is the text moving around a seemingly invisible line?

its almost definitely a text wrap. if you want one box to ignore the wrap, adjust the text wrap of one box if they're too close (you can even make it smaller than the box itself) or select the text box y ou don't want to be affected, apple+b, and check 'ignore text wrap.'
if you don't want text wraps on them, open up the text wrap menu and select the boxes to see if one is on there and if so, how big.

hey everyone
i would take a screenshot of it but's the motion of moving it back and forth that's the problem, thus a static image would do no good.
anyway - i actually figured it out about 2 minutes after i posted this.
ready?
Text Frame Options / Baseline Options / Use Custom Baseline Grid
it was turned off. turning it on makes the text flush with the bounding box, which, for whatever reason, fixed it.
woohoo!
thanks anyway everyone - seriously, much appreciated.

interesting.. i haven't messed with that before. i'll check it out. glad you fixed it.
