football's always been a team game, we were doomed from the start when rooney was left to fight the portugese defence on his own. Beckham's injury and Rooney's subsequent send off showed how strong the rest could pull together in their absence. they didn't let any goals in, but they lacked the attacking front which would have got them through. Crouch did a good job but doesn't have the killer instinct Owen or Rooney have when they score. Better luck next time...

Good riddance!... take all your deadbeat fans with ya... you've soiled the homeland enough as it is.

Rooney shows his true colours again. Sure he has passion, but he shows it with agression

Sven sucks. Rooney's an IDIOT. C. Ronaldo's a bastard. Official has an anti-england complex.
And there you have it. England loses to Portugal on penalties.
And why the hell can't lampard shoot?
- Crouwel0
yes rooney was a tit as well. so were dutch players van bommel and robben..
so it's not only ther portuguese, but damn, look at them, they surely are far from fair play too.
but whatevs, if it is only about winning then screw the WC. i was hoping to see the best playing team win..

Vindaloo!!!

Ronaldo is a greaseball.
That's all I'm going to say.
Oh,
and bye, Sven.

Rooney blew it for the team, but overall.. with all of those all-star players, they just can't play together. Not once did they look like a threatening squad this entire cup.
That comment before about Beckham was harsh, if it weren't for him they would have never made it this far. I've watched Becks play all year for Madrid and his assists were key in almost every win. I blame Sven, he couldn't get those guys to play together.

actually, I feel a lot of sy,pathy towards england for theri heartful game..
but there was none of that to see this wc
so I'm glad they're out.

yeah well for England he was SHIT
- WildFlower0
respect to Bekham though. He's stepped down as England captain knowing full well that that will make it easier for the next England manager to drop him. He's too slow on the right side and he knows it.

ach who cares.
As long as we get decent commentating again on the BBC and no more of this damn whining.
England had no chance from the begining if they were honest, they were over hyped to the extent of having expectations beyond capabilities heaped upon them.
Was Sven to blame? Not alone
you cannot just blame the manager when the team fail to perform, when Beckham's celebrity is the only thing that keeps him in the team, when Rooney's temper inevitably gets him red carded, when Lampard puts the ball past the net AGAIN, when all of the team are more interested in their Toni&Guy trolley dash than in their football.Good riddance to the worst playing most over hyped team there, they had no chance of winning and in their hearts they knew it.
- WildFlower0
bit harsh there emecks
- chz0
So, ummm... where is jevad?

Whats with all the whingeing about the coach and playing one striker etc? If those crosseyed clubfooted mingers could hit the goal from 11 meters out with nobody else around other than a scared goalie, you'd be watching them on wednesday.
See ya in 4 years, tommies.

true wildflower.
try sitting through the commentating here and you'd empathise entirely though.
