Just looking for some comments and feedback on a personal project of mine (Final year Multimedia design degree project).
Its called Leftcut and its a video podcast site with 4 different content channels. Its now one of mt portfolio pieces and I just wondered what you guys thought as I'm currently on the job hunt...

Too much web2.0

i like it, but may want to drop the body text size a tad

i like it - but I'm guessing you've got a big-ass monitor there? :)

the logo reads "leftout" not left cut.

Im actually only using a 17" monitor set to 1280 x 960 !
Sorry about the link not working in my post. I finished the site at the start of May.
I kinda wanted larger sized body text and found that it ballanced out the design.

"the logo reads "leftout" not left cut."
Doh!
I never spotted that one. I made the type nice and tight when creating the logo and I found the letter combinations to be quite tricky when it came to kearning.

(Jun 28 06, 13:44)actually, it doesn't. I'd say make it at least 30% smaller and tighten up your leading a lot. it's hard to read as is.

the design is ok, but the real question is:
why?
we can talk web 2.0 all night long, but why so bouncey/round/big? dont get me wrong, i like the style, but in my opinion it doesn't fit the context whatsoever.

the logo is way too heavy, also the dark bg header dominates the page waaaaaaay too much.
it does not fit in current web2 trends as flickr does so well..
tone it down. don't hit people to hard with contrast and big blocks, as it intimidates..

(Jun 28 06, 13:55)Its great to have all the feedback.
When I decided to do a video site, I did not want to have it looking like every other video site out there so it looks how it does now because I wanted to do something different and a bit more clean cut than other (video) sites out there.

I liked the site.
I didn't find it hard to read nor big though I should note that I don't really read any website unless its news. I'm looking for a nice layout and navigation to get me where I need to go. Also I have a big ass Dell monitor.
that said, it took me a couple secs (sex) to realize that the channels were on the main page (as they should be...) So I think you should specify that these large squares are the channels and that I can click one to see the content.
also the layout of the sypsosii (synopsis plural?) at the bottom I'm not too fond of. I wanted to know what I was watching as I'm watching it. I know u wanna keep the layout the same but move the synopsis's ( | ) to the side where the channels are on those pages with the player on them so I can read and watch at the same time. I had to pause each time I wanted to know what the next thing I was watching was.
It must be my big ass monitor but the logo does say left cut to me.
Overall I think its great execution: colors, layout, logo, content.

*slap
how does your monitor make a difference on how the logo reads.
if you tuck half of a C behind a U it's going to read as an O or C more likely an O
and + leftout is the exact opposite of the concept at hand. you have to clarify that for the sake of the concept.
i didn't have any other complaints. nice work!
your kungfu is weak and i will destroy you kkp.

also when i scroll the moviesection jumps up and down.
the effort is nice but it needs a lot of fine-tuning imho, both technical and visual.

That is one helluva URL you've got there!
You have to give that over to the phone to anyone yet?
Good luck! ;)
