The company I work for is doing a re-dev of their global web presence. They hired a good design company to produce new designs which they're doing with good results now. Suddenly, one of the country branches begins questioning going 1024px wide. I don't want to discuss whether it's a good or bad move now. I am just looking for good articles about the topic as well as examples of widescreen sites of well-established corporate brands.
Any links?..

I'm sure stats are showing 800 is minor now and dwindling fast with the take up of low cost 17" TFT's

Thanks, I've got those already (along with cnn, espn and a few more). What I could really use are articles saying it's high time to move on.
