ok i have a powerbook which i use for 90% of my freelance when in the office i use a g5 but im looking to get a 2nd computer as a backup since i just had hd failure on my powerbook and ive had to sit in the office late every night this week so anyone out there using a mini or imac for there primary design station ? are you happy with it ? or should i just by another laptop or just bite the bullet and get a g5 for home ?
thanks for your thoughts in advance.

I love my mini. I opened it up though and added ram though, so I might be screwed if something happens to it. But it was cheap, its small, and runs great. Always running multiple applications and it never slows down.

Get an ibook on the side

Don't get a g5 as t is going to be replaced soon with intel (prolly merom) machine. People inserted merom processor into new mini and it reportedly beats g5.
The only thing with mini is it has cheap video card.

i'm using an intel imac and it's great. it's a great deal too.

..and if you can put a merom intel into it (unlike with macbooks), it's gonna be a powerhouse. Unless you need a 3d accelerator.

do your programs lag using rosetta on your imac intel?

not too much, i had a 2ghz g5 imac before this. the onlything i notice is a slight stutter when switching apps.
