Anyone else make it to the D&AD talk last night? The best lecture I have been to in years. Very entertaining but also pretty insightful into the way he works.

I was offered a ticket but I already had tickets for foo fighters acoustic concert which was amazing.
I love chip kidd's book. The one with half a cover. He's a great art director. Seems like he'd be a funny guy too.

he's very funny. he started the talk with a photo of himself as a 6 year old and explained he used it because it was 'the last time I was attractive'.
He also had a photo of him dressed as Robin and reminded everyone to ignore what he looks like right now, that is what he actually looks like.

precious and arch I always thought and too enamoured of the self-referential vernacular. Self-deprecation is winning but still for a man with such tremendous influence maybe more than a little calculating?

Cheers, the Wink lecture was pretty good too. I watched a lot of those a couple months ago and I've got to say that the Chip Kidd one really stuck in my head. He's a pretty funny guy.
Only thing bad about the Walker archives, you need Real Player to view the media. I don't know how Mac people feel about RP, but coming from a PC background I always equated RP with the devil. I eventually installed it on my mac and it runs pretty nicely.

Tommyo, we started the Walker Channel a couple of years ago and at the time Real was the best for streaming live events and gave the best quality per file size. Certainly things change and in the future those files might be something non-proprietary like MPEG4, not perfect but at least the events are out there.

Oh yeah totally. And kudos on the Walker Channel...really quality stuff. Just there is a stigma with RP and that carried over when I started using a Mac. But I havent had any problems with it so far. Again big kudos on the content. great stuff.
