I wont take it too personally, but I have just had my CV rejected by a well known London agency.
Does anyone have any tips to make your CV/Resume appeal to the agency you apply to?
- mr_snuggles0
post it for a crit!!
Personally, I've nvr had my CV rejected, actually I've never even heard of such practice..
- arylone0
what do you mean with "rejected"?
Did they send you an email as a feedback saying they didnt like your cv or something like that?

Thanks for the reference snuggles.
My CV wasn't rejected as such just not good enough for a mid weight design job in London.
Would post for a crit but my site isn't live.

(Jun 12 06, 03:42)I doubt it. I sent them a PDF CV and smaples of work, most of which is print and identity. I'm not applying for a web design role so I don't think thats the issue.

post the pdf
- mr_snuggles0
email it to me, i'll post it...
let's get to the bottom of this fiasco...

was it an available position? or just speculative? think they may have just not liked your stuff? it happens.

when I was a junior designer I recon I got an interview 1 in 20 for every CV sent
when I was a middleweight designer I recon I got an interview 1 in 10 for every CV sent
when I was a senior designer I recon I got an interview 1 in 5 for every CV sent
as a senior art director, I pretty much get offered a job/some freelance work from everyone I apply to.
Just the way it is.

Yeah well I've got bitches in the livin'room gittin it on...
And let me tell you, they ain't leavin' till 6 in the mornin'....
- rasko40
you'd expect a senior art director to be able to spell 'reckon'
;P
- mr_snuggles0
maybe he meant recon as in the military activity? Cause that on a CV would impress me...
- kezza_20
is recon spelt with a k?
well I never
- chossy0
they just love your doggy style snuggles thats all.

Next interview I am in I will say these words.
'I'm coming round for a seven zero niner and I'm in the pipe 5by5 then if I think I am losing them I will throw down a 'We had lots of movement at LZ42.'

it's a good start and lord knows I've seen a lot worse from people with 5x your experience. I think you need to tighten up the layout a bit more. The spatial relationships between and within copy/text blocks isn't right.
I would try a more vertical approach and use two columns to split your information profile/experience..
You could move your 'Applications' info into the profile column...
Maybe use just one typeface, but that's pretty subjective..
A bit more contrst in type maight help as well, like when you say "experienced in:" that could be bold...
All in all it needs consistency in formatting and it would help if you wrote your copy in a consistent format...
