Anyone have any issues using an access database over a mySQL?
I can't seem to get the mySQL to load the tables, try the access and everything works...
any insights?

#1 first check your mysql user privileges. you could use the new phpmyadmin release or MYSQL Administrator utility to do that for you.
#2 a simple php script to check your db/server access:
$link = @mysql_connect($dbHost, $dbUser, $dbPass);
if($link) print "connected!";
else print "not connected!";if(!@mysql_select_db($dbName)) {
print "database not found!";
} else{ print "database found!"; }

how are you exporting it from access?
- Nac_part20
from what i remember with access there was some sort of plugin that I had to get to export the raw sql so i could export it into mysql....mssql can be a hassle, and unless you need it to be widely scaleable don't even put up with that headache either

un... thats the odd thing, its on a windows box. so no php.
But i did access the sqladmin (just like phpmyadmin) and got in fine. I figured the installer would run some sql scripts to set it up. non to be found n I don't know what the tables need to look like so i can't just create them manually. First line of code in the config file fails, table not found... no shit... . god i hate windows servers

Nac, yeah i submitted a ticket to get some info, the help docs don't say anything, knowledge base if useless too. But after looking, they talk about upgradeing so maybe the access to sql script/plugin is how to do it. We'll see what they say.
anyone ever use htttp://www.cactushop.com

yea find that plugin, export the sql raw, and then reimport it into mysql with your mysql admin...
hit me with an email if you have any more problems...
i hate access...sorry

if all else fails, just dump out the access as csv, or tab delimited...
stick that file on yr server, and then just do a 'LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE' from yr mysql prompt - much faster than breaking it up into INSERTS...

ha! yeah, um so they have a data tool on the site i need to download to convert the database... maybe they should add that to the config file comments or maybe even the documentation. Sometime i hate developer created documentation...
but thanks for the help all, we'll see how that goes.
