I have a laptop without a hd. If I buy one how do get linux on the thing?

same thing as installing win 98. Only thing with some linux packages are drivers. But a major brand should be able to get it running... I think, i've never tried it on a laptop

you shouldn't have a problem at all. drop the drive in and pop in the linux install cd. voila. it'll boot up to the cd and ask you to partition your drive and away you go.

nice. I'm going linux. last time I installed the trail xp I ended up using a crack to get a serial #. this made me feel really bad for the time and effort put in by the chinese programmer who wrote it.

if you get a version of linux from a major brand, you shouldn't have a problem. stick with red hat, SuSE, etc.
avoid Slackware or Debian.
