so, i'm having a prob with a div that has repeat-y for a background img. it works if I take out the img in the div on the bottom left, but has a big white space if it's in. if you take a look you'll see what the problem is.. any ideas on how to take care of it?

Try positioning the bg div to sit directly below the nav div or set it's margin to the height of the nav div. Seemed to do the trick for me.

You know, you could also just ditch the div completely and make it the background of the page itself.

i would also reccommend applying the backgorund to the body element. you will run into alot of problems trying to make that div always 100% height(height on divs is weird to say the least).
