Hey NTers thought i'd hit you guys up before i take my baby into apple to see what the hell is wrong.
I'm running a 1.67 powerbook w/ 2GB ram. I plug my 23" Apple Cinema Display into it to work. My problem is the damn thing has been freezing, crashing on me like crazy. Like 5 - 8 times a day.
Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening.

Macs are perfect and never crash

Ive noticed on the pc end of the spectrum that freeze ups are many times caused by overheating.

You should post some more info about your problem here:
http://discussions.apple.com/ind…Don't think you'll find the solution in this thread.
Good luck

ask dinky, he is experienced with PBs.

the spring wind from cupertino brought in the smell of new apple portables and activated self-destruct procedure in your pb.
It also whispers "maaaakkhh booohhkk" while you sleep

Repair permissions and do the usual maintenance stuff...
Run something like this:

If it doesn't solve your particular problem, it's worth doing anyway.

The most common cause of laptops crashing (mac and pc) is through overheating seemingly.
My flatmate had problems with his crashing all the time due to overheating but he didnt know this at the time.
He sent it away as it was still under warranty.
He got it back fixed and with a cover letter telling him what the problem was and even selotaped some of the evidence to the letter - bed fluff, pubes and dust.
They also suggested to buy a stand to sit the thing on when in use to allow good airflow underneath.Basically they were saying (without actually saying it) : dont sit the laptop on your bed when you are lying surfing porn ya dirty b*stard - get a stand!
i thought this was the funniest thing ever. cheeky techies hehe.

seen these in pcworld for like £40-50
i opted for a £19 stand rather than something with whirring fans.
The Titan G3T doesnt seem THAT great after reading the following in the review ...
"the quietest setup was one where a tablecloth was inserted between the cooler and the surface of the tabletop"
(look cool at work and play with your checkuered tablecloth - eh? ;))"a faint whirr was the only audible giveaway"
"sharp edges that are left exposed and therefore posing as a potential hazard"
and i dont have any spare usb's after soundcard, external hard drive and tablet are all plugged in anyways.
i must admit i did consider one like this though.
