well, i like them. really good lyrics and its good to see a band that are in the limelight and are from OOP NORTH!
good bit of genius from such young lads but it gets a bit too heavy after a few songs if you aint in the mood.
go check out http://www.iamreverend.com/
(these guys are pretty much unheard of at the moment but will be pretty big)
from the same area as the AM's - i love the accent hehe - but this bands tunes are a lot more stripped back, electronic and melodic.i think its like a cross between the arctic monkeys/electronic/the streets.
goto the mp3 part of their site and you can download a few of their tracks. but theres a link to another site that has more downloads on it.
my favourite has to be "he said he loved me"
enjoy

most of these bands are inspired by The Libertines.

Biggest pile of shit since gay dad.
- kelpie0
I think we can go a bit further back than that.
- Jnr_Madison0
Well in my opinion you can't get much worse than gay dad, but please try.
- Jaline0
I agree kelpie, but the sound is often attributed to being similar to the Libertines, especially the recent forms of Brit-pop.
- Jnr_Madison0
I'm gonna have to slap a rather large poc on this thread.
- rasko40
I think kelpie was talking to Jnr Jaline
all this new brit-pop whatever you want to call it, keiser chiefs and all that crap, fucking boring. badly played pap, its like everyone started getting back into guitar music and the labels marketing muppets went all gooey and started rushing down to the camden barfly to sign up whatever scruffy twats the girls screamed at, a few years ago Xfm used to be a listentoable station, not its got a 20min playlist of samey fucking brit crap, its bollocks.

The Strokes > The Libertines > The Arctic Monkeys > *insert next "fad" band here"*
forget the kaiser chiefs! lol
The timeline above shows the most important bands over the past few years in the eyes of the music industry - FACT!

eck, I'd classify death cab for cutie and fallout boy in there.
They don't deserve capitals.

cant say i have heard this gay dad -is it a spoof band like damen hirsts and blur? i am mc at the indie radio salon at my local college and i am well known for playing britpop. :)
i also write reviews some of which i often post on NT for feedback. i can therefore compare artic monkeys many influences with authourity:
divine comedy/blur/xtc/cooperclarke/pun... wave/these animal men/nwonw
