Image quality

  So I've built this site for a friend ... and all is great with one exception (arguable, but this is what we are going with)

  When the images are viewed at full size, they scale to maximize in the browser window (resize the window to see)

  That's where the problem occurs. In scaling, obviously flash doesnt do a great job. What are your opinions - leave it as is, go with a common size safe for 1024x768, or a large version and small version based on a detection during loading?
