Looking for tutorials on creating a burnt text effect in Illustrator. Kinda like a branding iron. Google gives me the phone book of tut's for photoshop but I would like to achieve this in illustrator. Any ideas?

try some of the photoshop ones with illustrator. the 2 programs have a lot of the same effects and blending modes.

I actually used this treatment in an ad. You're better off creating the type in illustrator and giving the effects in photoshop. (color burn)
You could prob even bring it back to illustrator after you create the look.

do it in PS and then AI/ Live Trace... i've been getting some really nice vectorized color results by tweaking with the presets.

photoshop, illy, pagemaker, fireworks, after effects, premiere, and quarkxpress

also KPT filters for illy 7,8 have a slamming fire filter for type!
KPT 6 I think was it.
