im going to order a macbook from the uk, but my dad is going to the usa in a week or so and it would be alot cheaper there. (about a hundred quid to be precise)
i was wondering if there would be any problems/differences using an american laptop in the uk. for example apps or games not running etc?

the term "user friendly" comes to mind.

I would expect the only difference is the power plug, but I'd check with Apple.
The Powerbooks/Pro books have a worldwide pickup-and-return warranty coverage, not sure how it works with MacBooks...

the keyboard is slightly different, if that matters.

any difference in dvds and regions?
- ribit0
and that...

do you mean the keyboard setting is different? (UK English vs. US English)
how is the physical keyboard different otherwise?
- ribit0
you can switch the region 4 times or so, and can reset again if you know how.
- acescence0
you set the region code when you first insert a dvd, and can be re-set 5 times. not an issue.

only if you declare it I guess

don't declare it, of course. you may want to take it out of the box it comes in and put it in a laptop bag though.
i did the same thing not long ago. saved far more than £100! but, yeah, my pb is fine here and i don't even have a fancy power adaptor or anything.

you can easily switch the keyboard layout - as far as i can remember the @ and " symbols are swapped over on a USA keyboard, and do what para said above - get rid of the packaging

yeah you just give yourself a wee union jack up in thon corner rather than the stars and stripes and s'goldenchild.
