I had a thread a few moons ago in regards to the type of dvd discs the inbuilt PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D burner will burn and read...
i thought I had resolved it as the dvd-r's I recently received seemed to be okay and i could read the files upon them.
So off to the shop i went, back with dvd-r's I came, burnt up well (unlike some other formats) and happy I was - until I realise yet again these can't be read!!! They just get spat out!
how can a dvd-r be read when another dvd-r can't!
baffled me up again!
anyone????

These 2 discs are Vertabin discs.
The problem is - a disc with the format cd-r that has been burnt on another machine will read on my G5.
A disc that is format cd-r - the same brand and size etc - just a different model now i guess - that i have just successfully burnt doesnt successfully read!
The disc has burnt fine as i have tried it on both pc and the imac that is sitting right next to me.

i have a few problems too, but with DVD-rw's. I had to erase them a few times in toast to get them usable. I tend to use DVD+Rs as they're more stable. Macs are notorious for being picky for dvd's, dunno if its the firmware .

i ran into the same problem with a dual 1.8. i i don't recommend it because of all the work it takes but reinstalled the os and it worked perfectly again.
