Trying to find a CMS that fits my sketch.
Basic news site, should allow:
- ad management with features such as individually decide how the ads should be shown (ie "only on tuesdays between 4 and 5") and of course where on the site.- article management (upload, edit, attach photos etc)
and other features such as calendars, search.
Don't mind paying or whether its asp or php - but keywords should be easy to use / setup and fast.
Thanks for any input.

add more ads

that site is pretty basic, but I think you should align all the items a bit more. It looks a bit unfinished...
But i like the minimal look you've got going...
this is a crit right?
;)

thanks for your reply, i'll put a lot of thought into your gift this year. Clown.

that was directed toward... no actually, to both of you :P

lol..
I think any cms should be able to do that. I thought cms just handled what you want from the template that you design. So if the cms will handle all of your required elements then you should be good.
I've heard http://www.joomla.org/ is pretty good. Going to try it sometime in the next month or so. any one else use it?

i see no reason why you couldn't do this with Nucleus - http://www.nucleuscms.org
Your host should have it for easy install under Fantastico, or you can just instal it yourself.

(May 8 06, 10:30)I've used nucleus before. cool thing about that is it has an rss/xml feed built in. I've used it in a little flash file to show the headlines on the main page.

check out the stuff over at http://www.opensourcecms.com
I think you need to add some more ads though...I like the funky calendar layout though..very cutting edge, proto-web 3.0 almost

aye- so the project *is* happening afterall, eh jox-y? ;)
depending on the level of tools needed, and the technology/languages at your disposal, you have many choices. i see several CMSs that would work well, some better than others depending on the 'design'.
in order of preference:
http://plone.org
http://migcms.madirish.net
http://www.drupal.com
http://www.joomla.orgi am a very large Plone proponent and in yer area are almost the core of the core Ploneistas. i can hook you up with the tops there if you like.
the *big* disadvantage to all these, save the MiG CMS, is that display and content are deeply married and extremly tough to isolate w/o an incredible about of work. their benefits are that they are built upon a vast community where updates and developments are easily leveraged.
good luck. and let me know if you would like to hire me as a consultant to come to sweden to work. :)
