I have an iTunes problem, and was wondering if someone might know the answer to fixing this issue. Any ideas or suggestion would be great!!
My iTunes music folder is located on my laptop’s hard drive. In this folder is the usual ‘iTunes Library’ (database) file and the ‘iTunes Music Library’ (XML) file. Next, my actual song and album files are located on an external laptop.
For some reason, when I opened up my iTunes, I lost connection to all my song files. The dreaded exclamation point of doom appeared for every song, and I received the, “...cannot find the original file. Would you like to located it now?” error message. The kicker is that I never changed the music folder location (from the ‘Preferences > Advanced’ menu), and the location is still the same as it always was. Therefore, the location still points to that original folder on my laptop. I thought that it might have changed or something, but it didn’t. I think another way to look at it would be that iTunes is connected to the Library file on my laptop, by that Library file isn’t seeing the music files on the external.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem w/out creating a new iTunes library (and losing my playlists, ratings, etc.), or by manually reconnecting 25,000 songs one-by-one?? Let me know if you have a way to fix this problem. Thanks!!

Er, back-up everything beforehand in case anything screwy like this happens.
