i think it is scanned. i haven't found any match yet.
nom de guerre has probably scanned those letter on their frontpage as well, the tree-like type that catalogtree also uses.
they explained here it was scanned from an old type specimen book.

It's not available as a digital typeface anywhere that I know of. I have scans of it in my archives somewhere (I used it on a Baryshnikov poster 16 years ago). Ive seen a lot of requests for it, I wonder if it would be legal to digitize it.

but the depth/3d is not hard to achieve i think. i assumed you were looking for a script font like this, in the sense of how the calligraphy was carried out.
i havent checked all sources, these were the closest i could come up with...

the tree-like font they used on their splash page was also available on dafont.com, but it was a very bad version of the real thing, most detail was lost. perhaps you may find something similar to this over there as well..

ojas did that big tree type.
the face damien used on his shirt is the same as the nom tee, so i think its out there somewhere and not a custom shadow job

actually, the line detail in that script was engraved so there are a lot of subtle variations that can't difficult to recreate ssing a computer. I know this because the typeface in the book I scanned from was missing a few letters. I tried to make new characters in AI but ended up making them from hand using pieces of the scans

ugh, I meant to say "there are a lot of subtle variations that are difficult to recreate using a computer".

check the thread i just bumped, it is not about this script font, but it does explain the other bit..

btw. ojas (just like catalogtree) only slightly adjusted an existing typeface that was scenned from an old type specimen book. be careful with giving all the credits to ojas.

Hey, thanks for the info Crouwel. I've been trying to find the name of that book (actually, I recall there being two books).
