  true, layout's less edgy, and the materials seem a bit more traditional, if not cheaper.

  i really couldn't care less if the editorial content stays the same...

  to me, the art direction was the most exciting part about it. right behind it was always the content that wasn't the same as every other mag on the newsstand that month
