i have two uncut/undrilled 7' x 4' solid core doors on flanges/metal pipe. they were overstocks form a door company in town and i got them for $25 each. the pipes ran about $40.
i'll have these the rest of my life. best work tables ever.

i like ikea but alot of people complain about it.

The Gallant Series of desks at Ikea are really well made sturdy and not cheap feeling.

Sturdy, and can be a bit cheaper if you catch them during one of their sales.
Also, one of my previous workplaces just got solid wood doors and 2 workhorses and voila! a desk. And if it's got the doorknob hole in it you can run your cables thru there.
