the problem I have is that the question is not how to vanquish your enemy but how to endure.
Patton said I don't want you to die for your country I want the other bastard to die for his.
Seems like the wrong paradigm for "leadership" they lose, we win.The genius of the marshall plan was restraint in victory the sooner to build a marketplace.
Not exactly the same thing as the Japanese Co=prosperity Sphere or Manchuko. They read Sun Tzu.

It still comes doen to how you find advantages and exploit them to maintain the upper hand. Even in situations that are win-win both sides walk away thinking that they somehow got something over on the other guy - it;'s all how you manage it.

an extension of those theories, this book is about a Navy SEAL approach to it.
it's an excellent read, and helped me out quite a bit.it's all about being in the right frame of mind. aligning yourself to your targets properly allows you to see goals more clearly and tackle them.

If you're a history buff, AND you;re interested in this whole strategy stuff I reall recommend Strategy by B. H. Liddell Hart.
Hart is the guy who devised the idea of the blitzkrieg & manuevar warfare after WW I, was ignored by his British and Yank compatriots, however the nazis dug his ideas and were in Paris in a few days. Of course, then the Yanks and brits came around....really good stuff...

If this thread continues in the same direction, I'm gonna have to start storing books in my sock drawer.
great!

Jox, start with Sun Tzu - it really is one of the best books on strategy the human race has produced. Everything else is just commentary on it at the end of the day...

And you know, one more thing - the study of war is really at heart the study of human nature. war and conflict is as much a part of us as compassion and the hope for peace. You gotta not be afraid to deal with the negatives...it's the difference between acting on ego or really developing your inner strength and acting on that.
I find reading this material brings a sense of clarity to alot of situations..
