You've also got some good artists coming to the jazz fest.

Fiery Furnaces are fantastic!
Especially live.
I'd love to see the New Pornographers and Feist.
* Sits and sulks as Pittsburgh gets the "Warped Tour".

Do these fests actually have Blues and Jazz or is that just a name?

I'm going to be out of town for most of Bluesfest this year but the performers that I'd be interested in would be:
Keb' Mo'
Michael Franti & Spearhead
Etta James
Solomon Burke
Dickey Betts & Great Southern

Mrdob, it's been changing into less and less blues every year, but there are still quite a few artists from that genre performing.

Always the same acts. Kinda boring if you ask me. But if you're an arts & crafts label fan, you're pretty well served.
These Ottawa kids eat them up like marshmallows around a camp fire.

(Apr 27 06, 06:54)Cool. I wasn't sure that Nelly Furtado was blues ;)

Mrdob,
the bluesfest hasn't been a strict bluesfest in like 8 years or so.. but it's the largest music fest that rolls through town and got it's start as a pretty strict blues festival (which also included r&b, soul and gospel).
as the fest got bigger they drew in other acts that would draw a larger crowd than a strict blues act would.
now it's a large music festival that books a lot of blues acts, but usually on second or third stages or in non-headlining spots on the mainstage.

Thanks Jaline.
btw, I didn't mean to insult anybody by my comment, its just that they seem to get away pretty easily with bringing the same shit back year after year because lots of people worship arts & crafts in Ottawa. Don't get me wrong though, I think Broken social scene is a good band and there are quality acts on there, but I'd like to see some newer stuff.
