OSX fonts no spaces

I have a few fonts on OS X that aren't displaying spaces between characters. Hit the space all I want, it won't do anything. Anyone know what this might be?

My G4 laptop does this once in a while...I have to restart to get the spaces back again...weird huh?

Really, a restart helps? Is it only with certain fonts for you or all your fonts?

I used to have a problem with helvetica fractions font. then I deleted that, and all my fonts went back to normal..
If that dont work (which probably won't help) go to the apple support forums, and Im sure someone would help out there.

It happens system-wide...I just get no spaces once in a while...I don't even notice until I look up andseeeverythingallbuttedtogethe...

Isn't there a repair function in there somewhere? Don't have ti myself, sorry but I have vague memories of it. Or delete/add the font files again?
