Do you even have a design background?... coz I ain't seeing it.
- Crouwel0
yes, it's missing a grid structure and tends to communicate commercial opportunity instead of rational graphic design.
i like your blog though, some interesting articles

not really feeling that, feels too cramped, i hate it when sites do that.
bad logo and navigation placement, the colours are not very nice and the same can be said for the anti aliasing on the menu items and the drop shadow

Drudge...I came back onto this site after a long hiatus and well...I promised myself that I'd participate in crit threads and skip the bs stuff...so here goes.
Start over. I'm not trying to be a dick, but usually when you start fresh you'll see new things and gain a perspective on your past designs. Looking at your site, there aren't just a 'few' things that you can do to make this site usable, informative and pleasing to the eye. Do yourself a favor and check out some books on grid systems, if you can, get your hands on 'Grid Systems in Graphic Design by Josef Muller Brockman'.
Take some time and really think out the content deadends you currently have going on...i.e. your portfolio says something along the lines of 'here you can view our work...' but there isn't any way to view the work...just a popup list that tells people what you can do.
I don't know what your background is, but it seems like design is something that you are passionate about. But it seems that you lack the experience to really exert a thought out plan of attack. Which is perfectly okay, we've all been at this stage. Keep it up, this is a fun stage to be at, frustrating, but fun.
Cheers!

drudge I agree with what has already been said start over or give up!!

Branding is NOT about logo or package design....
that’s like saying designing is about how to use Photoshop.

Give your self more room to breath I feel clostraphobic(?sp) here.
Plus your copy-writing is not to good. I would keep it down to a minimum if poss.

Thanks for all your comments. I realise I'm not much of a conformist and the navigation slap bang in the middle of tha page was a littl wacky even for me. The colours looked alright on the Mac. Even though the PC, like all PC's shows them to be a little different. I was going for a Marks and Spencers olive Green. I'm not really into grid systems and it feels cramped because it is. I design for 800x600. I still feel that sites should do this. I don't know maybe I should stretch bigger. Thanks for the example images on how it should be. I will consider all feedback. And despite what a few of you said I am a graphic designer and brands are realted to logos and the interpretation of the customer. I find everyone has an opinion on here. Which is good but sometimes a little hard to swallow. Thanks again. keep it coming if you must, I'll just have to have a cup of tea. David.

" I'm not really into grid systems and it feels cramped because it is. I design for 800x600. "
I as well as most of the designers who have been around the block have been designing for 800x600 for years and years. It doesn't have to be cramped at any size.

I think it was David Carson who said something along the lines of:
'Breaking the rules requires that you first know the rules'
Learn grids, you'll like them. Trust me. If you're a 'non-conformist' you should at least learn what it is that you are not conforming to.
