Somehow my router is blocking all the sites im hosting. all of them. Does anyone has any idea how to fix that or what may be the causes of that problem?
- tomkat0
hosting on your own pc or outside of the router?
check the port restrictions and forwards for in or outgoing traffic

hosting remotely, i reset the router and all but it still giving me troubles. I was thinking maybe the router gave out but if the router would give out i would not be able to either access any sites or random sites would be blocked. in this case only the ones I am hosting remotely are failing.
Oh and what makes it even odder is that if I connect my computer directly to the RR modem it works fine, its just went it goes through the router and its in 2 computers one connected directly through a cable and the other one wirelessly.
TIA

BTW the router has been set up with its default settings for troubleshooting

interesting I have roadrunner. I don't think port fwding is the issue. Especially since all websites run off the same port.
Do you have any other software running that could have inadvertently blocked it?
- fusionpixel0
no that I know of, I just re-installed everything in the computer im using right now so its fresh, the other one is still the same set up for years and both started behaving weird today.
Weird uh?
The hosting company told me earlier that my IP was being blocked in their servers but that they had fixed it, it worked for like 10 min and then boom it went down again. now its only my sites and everything else works great.
- tomkat0
now its really weird.. you've been blocked but were able to access over the modem and NOT over the router.
hm
- fusionpixel0
yeah, do you get a different IP when you connect directly to the modem than when you connect with a router?
maybe i need to find a site that obscures my IP and see if i can access the site. if i ping to fusionpixel.org i get a time out
I was "stealing" a neighbors wireless to test and I can access all my sites through his router. .. hummmmmm
- liquid0
ok so then not software...
is it possible that the IP address that your websites are running on are being blocked?
What router do you have?
- fusionpixel0
netgear, but i reset it for testing purposes so everything should fly though (or so I think)

Have you checked the MTU size on your router? sometimes it gets set to 1500 when it needs to be at 1492
- fusionpixel0
yeah, i have tried that, and have seen a lot of it covered in google, for what I understand the MTU is mainly for secure sites, i even followed a procedure where you went down in increments from 1500 all the way to 900 (1492, 1400, 1300....) but didnt work.
and never did that before either which makes it more the strange. Im going to try it again just for sakes ...
- liquid0
true true about mtu... the only thing is that other sites work...only certain sites are blocked...
OOOOOOOOOHHHHH.......
NETGEAR...!!!! dude....... upgrade the firmware.....I had this problem but I wasnt able to access ANY site.
To upgrade the firmware you have to follow a reset procedure and posibly download some software from the netgear site.
- liquid0
try this too

???
It's working now?! I just sent a new ticket to the hosting company complaining again and telling them that some of the DNS servers were being blocked, I havent received any emails back from them but the sites are working again...
waiting for the sites to go down again before upgrading the firmware....
- liquid0
good plan...
the firmware was my fix... the link in the previous post was just to reset the browser stuff...
- fusionpixel0
aha!
from hosting company:
I have checked your issue and i have unblocked your IP from the firewall list. Now you can able to access your domain with out any issues. Please check this from your end and get back to us if you need further assistance.

and I was considering buying a new router too! Thanks again all for your help and suggestions
- liquid0
funny ....I actually bought a new router because of that.... I couldnt figure it out for the life of me..
although that doesnt make any sense when it was working from the RR router and not yours..
