I'm literally getting 300-400 spams a day

with my kona username you say a thing or to to people spamming the pbs and the next thing i know the kona username's email address is getting slammed with 50-100 spam emails a day. wtf.
i had to change usernames back to help cut the shit back. it's a joke.

I'm wondering if some ass from Newstoday spammed my email address!

I get a bunch everyday, but Gmail is pretty great when it comes to filtering. I still hate seeing the amount of spam in my spam area though...
It's my fault though. I sign up for various mailing lists, shopping updates, etc., so I'm bound to get mail every once in a while, even though the companies say they aren't spamming me...

if you put your email address on a website viewable by anyone, you are solely to blame for the resultant spam, sorry that's just common sense.
most of my spam, however, i blame on morons that can't use the BCC field

It's always better to have a backup email address to use publicly.

do you have it set up to mail you everything sent to your domain?
get a javascript nospam thing if you put your email address on your website
never put your real email on the website, use one that forwards so you can change it every now and then.
start blocking incoming email address, like info@ marketing@ webmaster@ your domain.
stop buying penis enlargement pills.

i set up a new yahoo address a few months ago... between the click to create the account, and my first login, i somehow already had 2 spam messages in my inbox. it's an inside job.

i don't get hardly any spam. the ones i do all seem to come from the same places.
it's divided between ebay scams saying there is a problem with my account, chase bank saying there is a problem with my account (i dont' bank with them) citi saying there is a problem with my account (i don't bank with them) and a few others all saying i need to log in and update my info.
this kinda shit scares the hell out of me. my grandfather just got a computer, and my family are just getting into doing everything online and every time i go out and visit them i keep bringing it up not to give anything to anyone online.
i'm scared for the day my grandfather or somethign finds out he's been taken for a few grand. i'd make it my lifes mission to track down the person who took it and turn their face into ground beef.

spam makes me feel important

Same with me, garrett. I'm worried about those poor, unsuspecting people who are scammed every day.

I tell the story once in a while about the time about 2 years ago my friend bought his first computer. I went over there and helped him install everything and send him on his way.
A week later he calls me back over to 'fix' it.
His computer was almost unusable after all the spam/popups and various spyware that was running on it. It was ruined.
I had to start from scratch and wipe the whole thing.
THEN we had a nice talk about 'Chris, when it says you have a new message in a pop up box DON'T click it... you really don't'. haha.
