It can't possibly look worse than this crap, all those transparent parts of the windows with that blur, what the heck is the point, it just looks all muddy and gross, overly complicated for no reason.
I prefer windows [xp] to osx and I own both, and I thought the GUI on XP was crappy, this is a step backwards if you ask me.

why would i want a window that 100% transparent with all component transparent wow talk about pointless. they were actually the first to actually rethink the whole how transparent should look and work... vista window forms are very nice i like them alot alot nicer then macs windows mac windows are plain. i like how ms added those glare swooshes i dunno how to descibe them and u dont have to have the window using transparent you can adjust alot of details people are just lazy to make good screenshots...

nah man vista is pushing the gui more then mac os in my opinion...... and developers can push it further cause ms didnt as much as it could just so it can run on more pcs....

I was never even stuck on the OSX gui either, honestly I am cool with classic mode in xp, I just don't see the functional need for many of the additional aesthetics. What i like about osx is expose with hot corners enabled, since I don't think the dock is all that functional for flipping between windows.

if you run xp def stick to classic thats what i run on xp aswell but classic will not look nice in vista at all in my opinion i think they should drop classic in vista and replace it with aero basic which has a classic feel to it but is able to look nice for the sidebar etc...

the more crap that "enhances" the appearance of the interface only slows down graphic processor speed
it's fucking stupid plain and simple
xp even has it there in black in white under the display properties;
"optimize for appearance"
or
"optimize for performnce"the trans, shadows, etc all slow things down immensly
the whole idea of windows chasing down OSX is getting pretty fucking stupid
but not as stupid as hawking it all over the place without getting paid
that's just the bottom of the barrel
- twoismtwoism0
bottom of the barrel is having an opinion on something you havnt even tried out.

the whole glass thing looks good. osx looks nice and all but the interactions are slow
wonder how osx is going to tweek their gui for their next version

It's so nice to see windows users grasp on to that last string of hope. You just keep praying people, your all new vista may arrive one day in the near future. *cough*

hell I won't getting a new pc until 2007. have to use 64 bit for vista, right?

They are just OS's FFS! Vista, XP, OSX, Linus...just all software. It's not like they have a major effect on global affairs.
I laugh when I hear the vitriol when the conversation turns to software or the old Mac vs PC debate...get a bloody life!

please don't reuse my word of the day

Kinetic...I looked it up. Vista will be in SEVEN versions. SEVEN...wtf?

I laugh when supposed mediators intervene the old Mac vs PC debate threads...get a bloody life!

Hey, at least the font smoothing has been improved. Fonts in XP still look totally aliased even with cleartype on (and tweaked!).

but then it's fun to rile up two sides instead of just one

how hard is it for someone to hack osx?

I think it looks pretty good - looking forward to it

jevad, please join the Limeys thread asap

Personally, I like what PC Mag printed a while back - semi transparent black. Looked minimal and clean.

3D icons need to die, and soon.
Personally, I think OSX has to be one of the ugliest interactive creations ever. (can we please stop with these ugly 3D icons?! I blame Apple for that one!!)
