yeah, drupal is nice. it has a nice community behind it and maintains strict dev includes for releases and that is rad.
the only thing i really do not like about it (and this is common for almost all CMS's out there) is the inclusion of display w/ content data model. by this i mean, you either have to hack on the pre-canned templates to meet your design, or conform your design to meet those needs/requirements of the drupal layout framework. this is fine if design does not have a heavy consideration for a project, but for really creative projects where the client values original design, it makes the prodcution process rediculously stupid.
just my thoughts

i got drupal installed running on my local php5/mysql machine. its very nice and well-coded. quite fast and really robust. its the best really. its up there with typo3. Just great code and capability.

agree truenemesis- it is quick and can handle a lot. i still though feel that if you need extreme load and performance capability and are ready for a true application environment to handle both a complex and/or large data set for display, Plone is hands-down the champion. not for the faint of heart at all mind you, but just walks away from everything else in performance.
