either one you want to use works/doesn't work, i have tried both- same issue in Safari.

Enter response:
it's not a safari issue (if I remember correctly)... this is a Mac OS issue. Mac's OS doesn't have activeX (which is part of Window's OS)... therefor you won't have the transparent option.
shitty? yes. You trying to design on a layer... like one of those damn commercials that moves across your screen? grrr!!! damn you! :)

so, is Apple is legally bound to NOT use this or something, but anyone else can? (i.e. FireFox on mac)
argh!

I think that if it works in FF on mac and not safari then its a browser issue and not the OS. have you googled it?

yes, i understand how it is done correctly, that's not my problem. my problem is that wmode="opaque" does NOT work in Safari. it does work in FireFox on a mac and all flavors of browsers on Windows.
so does anyone know of an hacks/tricks to make this work right in Safari?
