(Apr 20 06, 00:47)hahaha.. i was just thinking the same thing.
its kinda scary peeping into this thread and realizing all these veteran NT'rs actually double as hair-wiping Tool fans.
mind you, explains all the testosterone around here.

I'm feeling the new album. Yeh, I was expecting something different, but I dig it... even the ambient bullshit.

the decoy album idea is completely retarded.

Actually, it's a pretty solid way to market i think scarabin
- jevad0
If it were true...that would be SICK
- jevad0
and yeah - that's teh ultimate marketing approach is it not?
- -scarabin-0
the day it's released it will be all over the web, so a "decoy album" doesn't have any point.
- jevad0
except to build anticipation...

and tool fance will buy the album anyway, because it will likely have all kinds of extras, maybe a dvd or something, and at the least very sexy packaging.
THAT'S your effing marketing plan there.

-scarabin-totally agree.
this album is solid, and yes maybe not too progressive, but if you're a Tool fan you should be VERY pleased.

yes it does, read the interviews with the band members and what was released from blair.
ther is defnately a buzz out there. Friends in the industry are saying somethings up. Whether this is b-sides or material that got dropped or whatever. And they are spots where is is mixed like crap and mastered poorly.
Don't put it past them to do this. They loath everything about the biz. This could be the biggest thing to happen in the music industry since elvis. think about it.
- -scarabin-0
i'm actually very pleased by the album, despite what others are saying.
someone mentioned it having extraneous "ambient" tracks that aren't really tracks at all, like it's a bad thing or something. what they failed to notice is that ALL tool albums have tracks like this. remember aenima and that weird circus music bit?
and the overall sound of the album is a very welcome return to the tool sound. i thought lateralus sounded like a goth version of blue man group. i don't know wtf they were trying to do with that.
- algorithm0
Iam not saying it is , but i hope it is. we'll wait and see. ahhh the wait.

What a hard thing to live up to... it must sound like old TOOL, but at the same time be cutting edge and new.
