hey yall... so i'm shooting my first wedding later this month and i was wondering if you good people could throw up any links to wedding photographers that don't suck. I've been looking around to try and get a feel for what shots to cover and what have you, but almost everything i've seen is terrible. By far the best i've seen is this girl that shot a friend of mine's wedding, but if any of you have other links i would really appreciate it.

also, i think this guy's work is pretty good:

I am going for more of a documentary feel and less super stiff "walking away holding hands while turning back and looking at the camera" cheesiness that seems to be pervasive in wedding photography.
So if any of you have links, pointers, anecdotes or advice, i'm listening.
Thanks in advance!

"hey yall... so i'm shooting my first wedding later this month"
congratulations. your future wife will not be happy to hear you already talk about this wedding as your first wedding..

...and the first example you posted is a little bit removed from reality. these people look like casted models, the places look like well-scouted locations etc.
mostly weddings aren't as glamourous as you see there.
imho.

I don't really think too much of that first link you posted.

actually, i found out about her because a couple of friends of mine decided, last min. to have their wedding on a beach in portland. I think they booked her something like a week before their wedding and all the pictures were crazy good (esp. given the time frame)
this is the only of them on her port site:
any way, i'm just looking for other photographers that do something different than the standard wedding photos...
- Crouwel0
different eh?
maybe you need to check out a certain Terry Richardson.

spot on.

I maybe should mention that i have never had any interest in doing wedding photography but friends insisted i shoot their's... so now that i'm locked in to doing it, i really don't want to screw it up.

Also doing my first wedding shoot in a month. A friend of mine is getting married. Yey!
Chris Weeks is a fenomenal photographer and even more interesting as a blogger at deviantArt. I'm not a too big a fan of dA, but I can't stress the fact that he's passing on good knowledge in his musings on dA. And a fun read breaking up the knowledge from all the sarcasm.
And adding to that, I haven't stumbled upon fashion photogrpahy as interesting as this:

i just hope you know what you're getting yourself into. not many photographers enjoy the idea of shooting weddings. just make sure you shoot your ass off and i'm sure you'll get plenty of good shots.

i got a photo shoot to next year and i'm already shitting myself about doing it.
when its friends you find it harder to turn it down.
i was supposed to be the "other" photographer at a wedding last year and they ended up using all my photos in their album because the main ones were poor
